I had the privilege of watching the Greenspan testimony streaming live on my computer screen this morning as I played Spider Solitaire in the adjacent Microsoft Window (TM).

To my surprise, during a response to Rep. Barney Frank (D-NY), Greenspan actually came out and said, in language that was as plain as he is capable of--not very--that a big reason they raised rates last year was to knock down the stock market.

You might say "Well, duh", but I'm not sure he's ever actually admitted it before in so many words. Wasn't it always supposedly something about inflation<g>?
