I was not making an argument against privitization of Social Security (the idea strikes me as dubious, but I'm still undecided on the issue). I was just wishing for an honest accounting. Bush keeps talking as if privitization would save money instead of immediately costing money. I would rather see Federal money shoring up the Social Security trust fund than see the money flow the other way around.

As for Democratic plans, didn't Dashcle and co. just unveil one? Let's look at it. Daschle's a fool if he just rolls over for Bush with the Congress evenly split.
