“So "YOU is not temporal and your body is temporal so there is no part of your body that is not temporal and thus no part of "you" that is a part of your body. Yet you still claim to experience moral difficulties because of desires that "you" do not have (I mean the desires that your temporal body has).”

Let’s Start with logic.
If you were to see me walking down the street and you could recognize me by my appearance, you would probably say or think, “I see brees.” If you weren’t sure you might say, “Is that you brees.” I would answer, “Yes its me.” Well, what you are seeing and referring to is my temporal biological body. I doubt that you can see my mind, or soul, or character. You are likely sure that I have a mind. Since you have one and have even given me a piece of it on occasion. Since you have given me a piece of it with out me having touched any part of your biology, it likely makes sense to you that your mind extends beyond your body. Likewise with character. Has anybody shown you their character? Can we agree that character is not purely biological?

Now I think what I told you is that my body houses my soul in this temporal existence or something like that. If I did not, let me now make it clear that this is my position. My mind extends beyond my temporal biology but has some obvious interaction and dependencies in temporal existence and I suspect interactions and dependencies that I am not fully aware of. My character I suspect is similarly entwined. Same with soul.

Now to stretch a bit. We are flexible creatures. I can go in a business suit and be formal and convincing in a business role. I can go and hang loose and be convincing as a free stylin’ vagabond. I can be a convincing responsible dad, and/or loving husband, brother, son, friend. Why do I know this? I know this, because these have been distinct and successful identities I have lived during this life time. These are all tied to my character, mind, soul, and body; right? Yet I am aware of some constants. There are character traits that are present in all of these roles, there are outlooks that I have carried through out this lifetime, there is a body that has been more or less constant as well. Yet there is a me that can look at all of this with an awareness of my self which is no longer a this or that, yet still the same self.

My body has needs that interact with the other aspects of me, such as: Hunger, sex, stimulation, etc. My mind interacting with my body has the awareness that some cravings may actually be harmful especially if taken to extremes. So, a challenge or struggle to choose paths and extents of satisfaction of cravings and desires must be tested. Why test at all? Another stretch.

“Where is the SOUL that "you" have in all of this. Is YOUR soul temporal and a part of your body and/or brain? Is it beyond your body (somewhere?) like your MIND? Or is it just somewhere? Does your SOUL have desires like your body, and does your soul ALSO vex you the way your body does? I find the whole picture confusing, but that does not make you wrong. It does seem like a lot of advanced knowledge, however.”

We can observe what happens to people who over indulge their own physical desires. I am convinced that the risks far out weigh the benefits of any overindulgence. We can also look at the written record and determine that it can lead to unpleasant results, self harm, or even death. This being the case, I boldly and willingly look at life as a test of my soul. One more stretch which is not as logical; Soul being that indescribable part of the me that transcends character, mind, body, and even this temporal lifetime and experience.
