Allan: As I have noted before, of all the things that I personally believe impact our economy, lay-offs are the most potent. Not to restate the obvious, but a single lay-off has impact well beyond the person who gets the pink slip. It smacks his friends, neighbours, family, etc. And the main response is to cut back on expenditures. The spiral tightens. In the face of such a widespread wave of lay-offs, how the heck do bulls maintain their optimistic perspective? Best, Earlie
