Macworld's buying advice
The WOW Thing's small size and even smaller price tag make it a must for anyone who spends time listening to music on a Mac, especially those who enjoy grooving to MP3s. While its dark, translucent-blue color doesn't actually resemble anything that Apple produces, the WOW Thing still looks cool on the desktop and can't be beat for the price.

The WOW Thing box (WOW-100) transforms the sound quality of all music for PCs, Macs, portable systems, home theater and video games. It drastically improves image size, dynamics and immersion. The processing of the spatial cues surrounds the listener with a holographic representation of th performance. In addition, bass becomes deep, rich and powerful without requiring huge speakers or a subwoofer. It is easily installed between your audio source and most speaker systems and headphones.

You will, however, notice a dramatic improvement in your enjoyment of the audio coming out of your computer.

I was surprised to hear some of the nuances in my MP3s that I hadn't ever heard before. True to their marketing, the WOW Thing allows you to hear richer dynamics and experience a fuller audio spectrum.

If you listen to a lot of music on your computer, the WOW Thing is definitely for you. At only $39.95, you can't go wrong.

Conclusion

Overall, this product was a bang. By using SRS Labs' patented WOW™ and TruBass™ techonology, this little box turns small cheap sounding speakers to large and fantastic sounding ones. Some improvement could have been done to improve on this product such as adding on a battery compartment and also a power LED.

Pros : At the price of US$29.90 ( approx RM110 ), the WOW Thing is certainly a good buy.

Cons : Lacks battery compartment and power LED

Overall Rating : 8.5/10
