James: I do not wish to engage in a sophomoric "pissing match" with you regarding campaign rhetoric and right-wing jingoistic slogans. If you are one of the many who embraced George's "We think y'all are better judges of your money than the professional politicians in Washington, D.C." ... then that's fine.

But do try to educate yourself somewhat on what the implications are if we go "full speed ahead" with the GOP tax cut for the wealthiest of the wealthy and Dubya's budget. Greater minds than mine are questioning whether the Repubs can cut taxes and still promise to keep Medicare, SS and government services from sinking too far. A good point to start would be the analysis on the front page of the Wall Street Journal today.

The fact of the matter is only a small portion of the taxes we pay to Uncle Sam might be considered "our money" and not the "government's money." The rest is necessary to keep the country running.

It costs money, you know, to build and maintain highways, defend the country, pay for medical costs of the brave men and women who served in uniform, provide help for the underclasses of society.
