I certainly don't disagree with what you say, but the most successful companies will probably be targeted for legal action. In my opinion the recording industry will need to adapt, begrudgingly. I do not have a horse in this race, but from the recording industry's perspective there is an intellectual property issue. They view unauthorized copying and distribution the same as copyright infringement just like the software or publishing industries.
