Census Bureau Makes Recommendation

By GENARO C. ARMAS, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Census Bureau (news - web sites) urged Commerce Secretary Don Evans on Thursday not to use adjusted results from the 2000 population count despite an estimated undercount of millions of Americans.

Evans said he will make a final decision by Tuesday, adding that the recommendation will be ``a critical element of my deliberations.''

Adjusted data, if approved, could be used to redistribute and redraw political district lines.

The bureau's acting director, William Barron, said in a letter to Evans that he agreed with a Census Bureau committee's recommendation....

I get the feeling liberals are thinking the tax cut is a check in the mail instead of viewing it as a sale on services.
