Have you heard if the earthquake damaged any dams? Now that I am thinking about it, living downstream of a dam in an area with active fault lines seems CRAZY. If the Bonneville dam ever broke the Portland airport, and parts of Portland, would be flooded and/or severely damaged.

Just when everyone here was convinced tech was dead, it takes off. QQQ up 7% in an hour and holding into the close. Are we a contrarian indicator or what?

After reading this article I think I may have just put 2 and 2 together to figure out what has been going on in the California power markets. It seems to me that the generators have been taking plants offline and doing major maintenance work and upgrades on purpose. One reason would be to drive up power prices and claim the higher prices were "reasonable" under FERC rules due to the decreased amount of available power. The other is to get the expensive maintenance work done while prices were high. This would again allow them to claim that prices were "reasonable" compared to their costs. VERY clever in that it essentially forces the state and utility companies to pay for the generator's maintenance and upgrade projects AND increases the generator's profits at the same time.
