AMAT, EMC, CSCO, TXN, QCOM all will grow EPS at >20%/Y. So will lots of others, but those are the ones I follow, and plan on buying. Not in 2001, but they are likely to average 20% (or better) over the next 5 years. Valuations aren't low enough yet to reach the 1-1.5 PEG range, except in TXN. I use forward 12M EPS, or P/S for cyclicals, or the trend-line of EPS growth (if 2001 is going to be below trend). And, yes, I know those are estimates, likely to change when the economy (temporarily) goes to zero growth. The economy will not be in recession in 2002, and lots of people will be buying cellphones, and PalmPilots, and cars with GPS/navigation systems, and the internet will be a standard utility in every house, office, and car. This future is not just possible, it is highly likely.

Your doomsday scenarios are just the mirror image of the NewEconomy hype of 1999-2000. I am sceptical of all extreme scenarios, then and now. Things will RevertToTheMean. And the Mean is pretty good.
