I would have thought he could relate to Dickinson:

I felt a clearing in my mind

I felt a clearing in my mind
As if my brain had split;
I tried to match it, seam by seam,
But could not make them fit.

The thought behind I strove to join
Unto the thought before,
But sequence ravelled out of reach
Like balls upon the floor.

Don't mention that offshore trading Emily Dickinson to me Madam. She was one of the first to use maritime law to evade Federal income tax. This hussy of a poet (who I notice you still misquote on your profile page) invented the offshore wash trade technique. I can only speculate why you admire her so much.
