Carl: Have you ever been involved in litigation? I don't mean this as a snide comment, because I know you are not a lawyer, but come on now. This is how the legal game is played, and the "share support" game as well. This is all about managing expectations, outside and inside the courtroom. All the "leaks", puffing, statements of assurance, building and rebuilding of positions and fallback positions is just par for the course. You act as if Rambus is abandoning its claim for SDRAM. It is not. It is simply pointing out that their claims are varied and even if one piece does not occur (due to a set of defenses particular to that piece) the same is not true for others. I still expect a settlement. It smells right to me.
