Apparently you didn't read the article - or even the headline for that matter.

I assume that's why your argument makes no sense.

Your reflex reaction was totally wrong. Republicans had nothing to do with it - the bureau's career statisticians did. In fact, Clinton ordered that the decision was to be made by the bureau's acting director, a senior civil servant. That's who made the decision.

Once it is determined what information is desired by the census, which was not controlled by Democrats, there's nothing political about gathering it.

An very naive remark. You'd think after all the nonsense in the Florida election, the idea of adjusting the census counts by sampling would be utterly rejected.
