tony: I.T software is very language intensive and except for system Engineering extremely low tech. In earlier times real time assembly programming did require logic skills for reducing time. Now that CPU's speeds are 1.5Ghz that requirement is not essential.

Some of us used to refer to Software writing as Intellectual brick laying. The architecture or Sytem Engineering is what is really intellectual. Because of that, less developed Countries are able to do a better and cheaper job. Its the same reason why we have given up on carpet weaving.

Fortunately all is not lost for us. We have to retool and devlop our skill set for parallel non-linear programming. Just imagine how complex that would be ; running 100 CPU's on a problem with 1K instances all linked to each other
in 10 order space. That will keep you ahead of the pack.

In brief ; we are in a global economy and to maintain our living standards we have to improve our skill sets to open up the gap between us and the competition. Thats exactly how civilizations survive.
