If the Iran Contra indictments were such a joke, why did so many of the defendants take the fifth? According to folks on this thread, the fact that someone takes the fifth shows they have something to hide.

After watching congressmen question Beth Nolan, the DNC's Dorshwetz, and Limpy Libby, Cheney's pathetic chief of staff, I've come to the conclusion that congress has lost its authority. Or should I say ceded their authority. The snickering, combative, misleading and disrespectful answers given by witnesses at these hearings and other Clinton corruption hearings are a sign that the republican leadership has no balls.

These hearings are in stark contrast to the Nixon hearings or Iran Contra where witnesses feared for their freedom. Now all they need to do is plead the 5th and snicker at the weak-kneed republican questioner.

Why bother with these hearings if none of the committee members can articulate where they're going if a quid pro quo is discovered? Why won't they subpoena Clinton? Why don't they have the bank records of the Clinton museum? Why don't they have the bank records of all the supposed launderers here? Congress sure looks timid. If I ever get subpoenaed by those bunch of losers, I'll be sure to take the 5th and then grin at my questioner.
