I think you missed part of what I said. I do agree with you that retailers are not a place Id want to be. The economy is obviously slowing down, consumer debt is at all time highs and I tend to doubt Greenspan will be able to save us as soon as people are thinking. However, I disagree that just because an analyst downgrades something means you should be short. Companies have analysts for very few reasons. One is to generate volume for their retail brokers, another is to help Investment banking clients. Yet another reason is so that their traders have the liquidity to get in and out of positions.
