hi nemer

you're welcome regarding the forum link. i've put it up in here a time or two before, but lots of things around here bear repeating. <g> and yes, there are some quality folks there, too.

cracking the dell box at son's house sounded like fun. and i'm happy to hear you were able to use the crucial.com site for your mem sticks. i'll bet that someone here passed the site along to me. in fact, i'm sure of it.

glad you've been following along with interest on the hard drive/controller discussion. sometimes one wonders how bored others must be getting. <g> and thanks for the input regarding your experience with as many as 3 hd's and little noticeable slowdown (if i read you right!). this subject just really caught my attention, much like pw's beautiful remark today (though she was referring to swap files)... "My motivation was more to reduce my curiosity than to recapture the six seconds per decade of computing time being wasted."

btw, i didn't think it would take a 60gb hard drive to prompt you to load av software.... i thought perhaps the post from ish tonight ( #reply-15435656 ) might have motivated a few anti-av's to step forward and take the inoculation! and thanks for reminding me where that 1/2 came from..... i'd forgotten who the fence-sitter was

:)
