Do you see this delay (imt2000 certification for 1xevdv) as a "political" move pushed by QCOM's competitors, or a function of the technology?
----------

The probable delay is a result of the time required to develop the standard (1xevdv) within a committee-based context (3GPP2).

Also, there are multiple applications and ITU review steps involved in the process of imt2000 certification. It is necessary to conform to their timetable - and approval schedule - with, as I understand it - final certifications occurring at annual major meetings in November. So if you miss this year's cycle, you wait for the next...

There is still some glimmer of hope that 1xevdv development can progress sufficiently fast to make an approval process culminating this November possible... but imo it's unlikely.

Regarding dualmode iSDN/1x chipsets for NXTL and associated collaboration with MOT ------

MOT presently contributes to 1xevdv standards in progress with 1xtreme - so there would be a vested interest for MOT in NXTL evolving to 1x platform... Perhaps NXTL would remain captive to MOT for iSDN/1x handsets (with a little Q inside)...
