Data will flow faster through a flat cable. It is well known that electrical conductors offer less resistance at lower temperatures, and that flat cables would be able to dissipate heat more efficiently than the more closely packed conductors in a round cable would allow, and thus run cooler.

Granted the improvement would be challenging to measure, perhaps a second or two in a billion years. But we must exploit all efficiencies, no matter how small.

Cheers, PW.

Funny you mentioned cables. My computer is full of cables, 2 IDE cables and a SCSI cable. Every slot has a card and every bay is full.

I have always been worried about air restrictions, as this Dell box is packed with cables. I would love to have round cables, but I don't believe ever seeing them. Where do you find them?
