I have found it interesting that for years and years, corporate taxes mirrored actual earnings,..... that is until the beginning of the mania. Suddenly the two diverged! I wonder why. Couldn't be that the "reported earnings" (rising) were somehow different from the taxed earnings (slowly falling) could it? (g)

In spite of the above, the government found itself swimming in much larger revenues. A task force was actually created to find out WHY the dough coming in was rising so quickly and where it was coming from (hilarious). As is now well known, the big increases were from capital gains. So now what happens when the market poops out and cap gains dwindle to a trickle,...... just as unemployment etc., take a rocket ride.. Hello government deficits
