John, re: the "gotcha" .

I remember once I held 10 contracts (puts) on a strike that only had an OI of around 30.

I put in sell at the going ask, it stayed there for about an hour (spread was about .40). So I lowered to the bid.
The bid immediately became the ask and the bid maintained a perfect .40 spread. So I raised my asking price way above the original ask, waited till it printed (the .40 spread was maintained) then changed my ask to the original bid. Same thing. Did this for about an hour. Figured I'd keep the MM busy (or awake).

Like they say, simple minds are easily amused ;-)
