The last time that I was in strong disagreement with many on this thread was last spring, when I tried to convince the masses that Intel's income from investments would be neither predictable nor sustainable.

Europe indeed is doing much better than the US right now. It is not a coincidence that Europe did not have the same imbalances caused by an overinvestment in technology. In fact, a year ago all that you read was how far behind Europe was falling behind us.

Things are much better in Europe, yet their benchmark rate has risen 90% over the same period of time that ours has risen 37%.

If our own Fed rate increases are the source of our problems, how can that be?
