Why is storage sector not recovering with market?

You're asking the wrong guy. I'm LTB&H; I don't care specifically about today's market action.

I watch for changes in sector dynamics, or for company-specific news, or for changes in company fundamentals.

As long as data/information are growing by so many petabytes per year, and as long as EMC is a strong leader in storage, then I'll stick with EMC. But the daily price isn't a big deal to me.

Went bottom fishing last week, picked up more EMC at $35.60.

Tulvio, FWIW, got this downgrade, but they hit Sun also and Sun's up.

EMC Corp (EMC) 40.59 -2.32: ABN AMRO downgrades to ADD from BUY and lowers Y01 estimate to $0.91 from $0.97 and Y02 estimate to $1.22 from $1.28; continues to believe that company's long-term prospects are bright and its competitive advantage remains intact; however, current environment will keep a lid on the shares over the near term.

13:00 -- 14:00 ET (Updated throughout the hour)

Sun Microsystems (SUNW) 20 3/8 +5/16: In an intraday call, ABN AMRO downgrades to ADD from BUY and reduces FY01 estimate to $0.50 from $0.52 and FY02 estimate to $0.59 from $0.69; says vendor contacts, sales contacts and channel checks revealed a sharp decline in tech spending the last two weeks; leads them to believe there is not just a tech spending slowdown, but a temporary lockdown.
