glad to see i'm not the only one to strain the credulity of this being a 'family thread'.

i was on the edge of grievously blundering, so i offer a warning to others who may not be aware of the danger. absolutely do not sell a stock and then buy it back in the same day in an ira. there is some obscure sec rule forbidding day-trading in iras. i broke it last year and did lose all my online trading priveleges for a ninety day period. your entire account becomes unavailabe online. you can do all the usual stuff, but must use the phone. i got so disgusted i just didn't trade for 3 months - probably helped my bottom line a lot!

if you get stopped out of a stock you want to own, have a backup in place to buy in to.
