I think we need to consult Cobalt on this- it's quite likely different virii are responsible for the Human and Animal FMD disorders.

What surprises me is that they destroy the carcasses. I would think the meat would be ok to consume- the loss would be the dip in future supplies as the young stock is destroyed before maturity.

TA, thanks...clearly this is a crisis with wide ranging implications. for one thing, farmers across Europe , who are already smarting, will suffer yet another huge financial blow...meat prices meanwhile are set to explode as herds are destroyed far and wide...
