When the crash hit I was, and remain, mostly in bonds and cash. I knew that a lot of my wealth was due to luck rather than any actual understanding of investing on my part. I knew, in large part because of the bears on SI who turned out to be RIGHT, that valuations of tech stocks could not hold. I knew that luck is subject to sudden change, so I protected most of my winnings. I've lost a lot in the last 4 months, but I'm not trying to blame anyone but myself. We have been encouraged to invest and save for our retirement and yet this is the thanks we get for investing. Does anyone feel that he or she has been duped and robbed?? It takes two to tango, Frank. We have all indeed been duped by criminals. But they aren't the kind of criminals that hold a gun to your head. They are sleazy con artists who have festooned themselves with MBA's and fancy suits, but they still need SUCKERS, Frank. They tell you a story, and they need SUCKERS to believe it. And believe it you did. You were duped. However, you were NOT robbed. Somebody did indeed tell you that you needed to save for retirement, and that government could not be relied on to take care of you, and that the only way you could take care of yourself was to put your money into aggressive investments, and that bubble stocks were those investments. You believed that story, Frank, and you did as the con men told you. You followed orders. You cooperated with the criminals, willingly and with gusto. Now you are looking to assign blame. Look in a mirror. Greenspan and the Street couldn't have done this without all of our help. I know that's a concept that you are incapable of understanding, but you should try.Where the hell is the justice and outrage?? <g> --QS
