" They always rally on Friday." Was a saying from an old time odd lot broker, Charlie Braumuller of Carlisle.
He used to shout it out every Friday afternoon when the market was not doing well.
Then it used to seem that the market would rally.
He told me it was a cry from the thirties.
Then everyone would sing "Wait Till The Sun Shines Nellie". They were the good old days.
Seemed to work as the short sellers usually closed out their positions before the week end.
Usually in a down market most specialist and floor traders would be short going into Friday. Being their stock balances are usually on a line of credit the specialist and floor traders like to go into the week end flat so they do not have to pay the brokers loans over the week end. They also like to mark their stocks up to increase the value of their long positions to decrease their brokers loan balances.

then again what the heck do I know?
