One other option is that you could bypass the profile page completely But why should I have to take the extra steps to do that? There are many times when I read a post by someone and I want to take a quick look at their posting history to get an idea of their track record, how long they've been a member, etc. Right now I can do it with one click. The other way would be a pain. Plus, not everyone would think of doing that, which means those profiles will effectively be hidden from them. Keep in mind that people who have good reason to cover their tracks, (e.g. spammers, stock touts, etc.) may decide to take advantage of this loophole if it's left open.
