Adoption is a tricky thing- you are going against biology with adoption. We are animals- we know the smell of our own offspring, at a biological level we know when we are not raising children biologically related to us. I think adoption is wonderful- but it is not the same experience as giving birth to a child and raising it. I do not think that makes it better or worse- I am merely saying it is qualitatively different. I think anyone who has adopted a child, and who then has their biological child, will know what I mean. My mother always grieved for a biological child. I am sure I, as an adopted child, was a good adopted child and I know she was pleased with me- or at least she is now. But I am, and will always be her adopted child.
