<<Bush has set aside a trillion dollars in contingency planning >>

To me this sounds like families of years ago sticking a few extra bucks in the cookie jar. You need it, you got it, no need for borrowing.

As far as I'm concerned, Social Security, as it is designed today, is immoral. Someone could save for 40 years, then die, and nothing is left to their family

Do you consider all pension plans immoral? They share the same setup. BTW, there are survivor's benefits in Social Security. It's just not an investment plan.

Now, I'm not arguing against changing Social Security from a pension plan to an investment plan. I'm just pointing out that the current system is pay-as-you-go and asking where will the money to make the change come from? I'm still waiting for an answer.

Bush hasn't yet laid out his budget. His speech was definitely a free lunch for all, hard facts to come later.

If Bush gets his tax cuts and they lead back to $200 billion Federal deficits, will you still be for them?

BTW, Gore did propose tax cuts. Just not as large.

What's the point in debating with this women she is thick headed. She talks about social security but here was Gore talking about a whole new give away prescription drug program. Were all ready crying about where the money is going to come from for social security but in the next breath he wants to spend tons more. He was going to pay for prescription drugs for Rush Limbaugh and Bill Gates. Of course Bush had to jump in or get called all kinds of names.
The Democrats are the bribery party that's all. They bribe people by offering them the fruit of somebody else's work.
