That was a comprehensive description of your viewpoint, however I don't see that is debatable in it. Since these are internally referenced systems, I can't really take apart the reference points.

I've always said the pro-Life position is technically stronger. I'm a vegetarian because of my general opposition of all animals raised as food. It is not an absolutist belief, just a general preference. I prefer synthetics to leather, but will wear leather when no adequate substitute is available. My goal is minimize my "footprint" on the planet. I think I do pretty well compared to most people. I will eat meat to facilitate social functions but consider this a "minimize harm" compromise. In my home I never eat meat and never with friends who understand my position. Social functioning requires that we compromise our personal preferences in deference to the group. Sure, there are limits to how much social lubricant needs I will accommodate.

I've come to terms with the dichotomous nature of my beliefs and preferences. I look at abortion as the choice between two unpleasant alternatives. I have taken the step to have a vasectomy when I had all the children I planned to have. My extended family isn't even at replacement levels considering the small number of grandchildren, including my own.

I think that conservation, ecological balance and population control are THE major issues that face the planet and chose to work in the medical industry (20 years and counting) to benefit people with my technical skills.

Getting back to abortion, I see that the alternative (bringing unwanted children into an overpopulated world, generally into conditions that don't promote their full potential) is worse than ending the life of a THING that is not neurologically developed . I can't argue with much that you said, except that there seems to be a disproportionate emphasis on these protohumans compared to all the other harms that would come about as a result of not having safe and legal abortion.
