Correlation doesn't mean causation unless you belief that SuperBowl outcomes REALLY cause market fluctuations. I suppose if enough people believe it, it could happen. When I was a kid, I saw kids were beaten in the streets. No one said anything. I knew a kid that was punched by his dad with a closed fist. No one would tolerate this now. I think your statistic is flawed. It's like saying that hate crime is up because in 1900 there was none reported.
