So how much would you spend to keep a 98 year old woman alive who is brain dead when that money could keep a small city's worth of children served with adequate neonatal and pediatric care? This is world of finite resources. It is easy to SAY it isn't about worth, but I'd argue that it is about worth. In general children are worth more than adults. They are the future. Most societies and individuals recognize this. If you asked my mother whether she should spend $2MM on her last 2 weeks on earth or provide that money to her grandkids, I know what she'd say. And she'd mean it.

Our only duty is to minimize suffering, IMO. That is the real harm.
