Rose,

You are uncanny. That's exactly what I thought when I read Keith's post. I was flabbergasted to read there's a class action suit being considered and we didn't know about it. I guess we're not the only people on SI who think this man may have done some real harm. Go Keith!

Hi Rose, I think that any law-suit against Voltaire or anyone else for that matter who merely spouts out investment advice, without any ulterior motive, would not be successful - though that is not to say that someone may not choose to try it.

With regard to thread headers, I would say that every thread that provides discussion about investments and trading should have a whole lot of cautionary statements such as:

- The people posting on this thread may or may not know what they are talking about
- Trades posted may be real or fake
- Beware of the agenda of people who post trades and recommendations

and so on

Several months ago when I used to follow the mod-thread, I saw a post by someone who seems to be treated with deference on that thread. He posted braggingly after the stock had recovered that he had bought a particular stock at the lows of the day - it was one of those stocks that spiked down hard and was in freefall and then rebounded. He was congratulated for that brilliant move. I checked the prices shortly after he posted it and lo and behold the low was what he had posted according to my quote service. But later in the day, it came out that the price was a misprint and that the low was, in fact, much higher than what was shown!

It has never ceased to amaze me how otherwise sensible people are willing to risk their hard earned money on the advice of people who they have never met and whose track record for any length of time is unknown.
