If you read the article related to this discussion, a poor day trading slob got some of his common stock transactions voided, but not the whole works leaving him with a big loss. I'm not exactly sure how this happened from the article, but I think he must have got stuck with some long covering transactions and got the shorts voided leaving him long on a stock that was worth squat, i.e. it is a 5 buck stock, you short at 50, then cover long at 20. When all the dust clears you are long a 5 buck stock with a cost basis of 20. All in one day. -g-

So, if it comes to reneging on poot contracts, how big of a step is it to void all short positions out? We are much more of a Banana Republic these dayz so I guess it really isn't out of the question. I have zero confidence in having winning transactions honored should the wheels really come off the cart in a very bad way. -ng-
