This is not in question.

isn't the low savings rate an anti-tax cut argument? A retiree with no savings is completely dependent on Social Security to maintain his standard of living.

This is not the case. The rate of growth of govt will be slowed from 8% to 4%, well above the rate of inflation. Social security will be there with full benefits for at least the next 15 years. However, those who are my age will probably see the minimum age for SS lifted to 70 or so as it should be, since the current SS program was enacted before people were living as long as they currently are.

SS needs to be changed to fit the times and so does the tax code. You cannot punish people for working harder; it is simply wrong.
