Potential doesn't form a floor of support for a stock, unlike eps, revenue and book value.

This is a mad2ism....Show me in the stock handbook where it says exactly that. Particularly if the potential may be well on the way to becoming a reality, or if their intellectual property is considered valuable enough (SWMAY apparently thought it was worth $10M and 49% of the jv)...Or with a product which just received the "Rex award" for best new product and increased sales at the register 40% year over year with an admitted limited budget. This after I believe you said the product was likely a "one year phenomena". But, like I said, we've had this discussion.

Your charts:
quote.yahoo.com^IXIC&d=2y&c=gumm
quote.yahoo.com^IXIC&d=1y&c=gumm

aren't very convincing for your argument. Please notice that GUMM peaked a little before the market did. Thus far they have also bottomed (December) before the market which continues to make new lows.

This is actually somewhat consistent with the kind of companies I think should outperform in the current environment....small companies, particularly ones which can piggyback with large, old world, well capitalized companies.

GUMM isn't out of the woods. I've said it several times lately, they have to close the deals. The interesting thing is that large company secrecy keeps us in the dark but large checks from P&G and SWMAY (to the jv) tell us something is happening. Long anticipated things could happen any time (or not) and without much warning. If they do, the stock may appear pretty cheap. Do you really think any tiny little company that wants to can secure the likes of CSFB for strategic planning?

That said, you have no say in their success and your uninformed speculation isn't much help. I'm not sure why it is important for you to step forward with your aspersions....unless, you simply want to be on record for an "I told you so". You may think as I do that this will be a tough week for the market. If it happens, and, even if we were to have a new low for GUMM, while it might be disheartening, will likely confirm nothing more than the shorts win in the short run. Any number of high quality companies have been hitting new low after new low and we both know that their futures will not "all" be forever sewn in this setback. GUMM's advantages are that she has no debt, has a current ratio over 5, and has been forging partnerships with companies which will in various ways be funding the lion's share of their joint projects. They have no immediate capital needs so stock price isn't urgent.

This discussion is tiresome.
