Bob, if you have the time, I would be interested in hearing about your time as the moderator. Was it difficult, were their particular threads which caused you a lot of grief? Were there some threads so mired in consternation you just had to laugh while doing your job?

I think we could all learn a lot hearing your viewpoints in trying to fairly moderate the threads.

By the way, I thought you did a great job fairly administering the pain of suspension and renewal over the last few years.

Best of luck,

Michael

"Stunning research abilities there."

That was meant to be a joke...just thought it was funny that there was a thread entitled "Why was Bob suspended", but I'm guessing your tickle meter is on empty.

"...in three years of being required to let people lie about me unabated if they wanted, it's become a habit, so carry on. It doesn't bother me much at all."

You act as if you had no posting rights for 3 yrs...I seem to recall more than a time or two you getting pretty huffy with posters for reasons less than telling lies about you.

"You read people awfully well. Did you minor in Human Resources?"

Actually, I'm in the people business and while I do respect our HR dept, most folks there are simply paper pushers and have no read on people whatsoever.

...and on the book thingie, get a clue...while this silly SI community may have a mild interest in such things, anyone with a synapse or two in tact could care less about the day to day drudgery of chatboard backoffice and admin and tales from the crypt...the internet has taken a slow fade and with it stock chatboards have nearly rotted on the vine...to expect a book to be of interest to the general public would be a push, at best...now if I may suggest (and I know, I'm probably the LAST one in the world you would ask to guide you in such things), you may wish to consider a book that draws parallels between real life community and some of the characters on an internet chatboard and the sense of community on SI...you could also do something along the lines of posters who use the internet as an alter ego, but that is quite another story.
