Thoughts on Oil Stocks?

This is a great thread. I have been reading it since it was the old driller thread.

I respect the insights on oil/driller stocks from this thread's members. My thoughts on oil, for the next 6-12 months, are the following: 1) oil should remain in a trading range of $24 - $30, 2) OPEC will hold back production if the price drops too far, and 3) NG & oil will have increased production due to the relatively high current prices.

What I would like to know is -- does anyone have an opinion of oil stocks at today's valuations? I am looking at CP -- Canadian Pacific, which will be spinning off their majority owned PanCan(& the other 4 subsidiaries) in the fall of 2001. Does anyone have an opinion of oil, or specifically "CP"?

Thanks in advance. Great thread.
