ORCL went out of its way a few months ago to tell the world they were going to bury SEBL. Larry had all kinds of wonderful plans. Perhaps some of those plans worked their way into his forecast which everyone thought was too bullish. It was around that some top brass jumped ship. Now that it is time to report, Larry has to confess.

First, Ellison has been saying that for well over a year and very publicly. Second, don't hold your breath until Larry confesses anything. It's not his nature.

IMHO, it is easier to cancel some ORCL middleware than it is to cancel your accounting system with SEBL.

What accounting system? I'm sure you realize that SEBL doesn't sell financial software, so I'm missing your point.

An important point made by ORCL that seems to be getting no attention is that the applications business grew 50% during the slowdown.
