Albany Molecular ups Q4, Q1 estimate

ALBANY, N.Y., (CBS.MW) -- Albany Molecular Research upped its estimate for fourth-quarter earnings, while providing a first-quarter estimate.




Citing strong performance, the chemistry research company (AMRI: news, msgs, alerts) anticipates fourth-quarter earnings 21 cents to 22 cents, up from the previous estimate of 18 cents to 19 cents. Revenue is projected to be $10.8 million, an increase of 67 percent compared with $6.7 million in the year-ago period. Analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial currently expect a profit of 18 cents a share.

As a result of the increase in the fourth-quarter estimate, the company revised its full-year earnings estimate to between 73 cents and 74 cents a share. The full-year estimate on Wall Street stands at 71 cents a share.

The company also confirmed its estimate for the first quarter of 2001 of a profit of 18 cents to 20 cents a share. Analysts currently expect a profit of 20 cents for the first quarter.

The company is set to release earnings on March 6, after the market closes. Shares closed up $3.38 to $47.
