There is nothing sacrosanct about in any brackets or any tax. Government should raise what it needs through a variety of taxes but should never create disincentives for investment. Tax the rich dead--I dont really care, but don't tax living folks at 70%(90%combined) as Cary would do. By I would agree with Cary and Richard Nixon that the working poor shouldn't pay any income tax and that the time for Nixon's negative income tax has arrived. That policy would have refunded the working poor what they paid plus so they could meet minimum standards above the poverty line. Mike
