Let's see, where does NEC fall on the market share chart? Hmmmm? Nope, not in the top 5. Not even sure if it's in the top 10, but probably.

Yes, it's still a failure, but it's getting a little better (CPQ was the big win, possibly, though I need to go see exactly how many DDR configurations CPQ is offering).

Again, Intel had more vendors supporting the 820 on the first launch day than the DDR camp now has 4 months after their launch. If you think the RDRAM launch was bad, you can only acknowledge that the DDR launch is abysmal.
