Actually, as we go into a mild slow down (but not a recession, IMHO), the dollar could strengthen short term, I fear more what happens when our trade deficit once more takes it's march to the $500 B annually, the dollar will have to weaken vs European and some Asian currencies, but I am not sure it will weaken appreciably against gold, too much of the stuff around.
