Reminds me of the time the AMDroids found out that Intel had won the XBOX contract with Microsoft !!

Joe, >The Intelabees sound just like we did when the subject of servers comes up.

Just passing along my opinion about AMD's chances of getting into the server business this year and next.

Servers are multi-tiered WRT applications and therefore requirements. The 1-2Ps need fast CPUs capable of dense packaging, low power therefore getting to be a must, for front end web type servers. Mid-tier is like 4Ps for application servers, where dense packaging is a nice to have, if not a necessity. Back end 8P and up are for database, data warehousing, etc. These want all the processing power, cache, memory and I/O they can get, and, therefore, power is secondary. AMD has a chance at the low end, but they'd need to do something about power, and get an OEM, probably also a chipset company, that know packaging and RAS, allying with them. That's a lot of requirements and are they even at square one with regard to those requirements?
