Your nemesis (well one of 'em) - who I think is pretty sharp - even made a comment about those who can't make money in the market writes books, like "The Gorilla Game". I think that was a half-serious comment.

I always looked at The Gorilla Game as more of a business philosophy than a investment philosophy. And it is one a believe in. Many of the concepts in the book (along with "Inside the Tornado") are very solid for building a strong business model. Even if the resulting company isn't going to be a gorilla.

The mistake is tying one's investment philosophy to the business philosophy without taking into account that there are other forces at work that can be much stronger than just being a gorilla.
