Tom, your post seems to have had a salutary effect on ECD patent counsel
judging by today's action. Very glad to hear from you. With Texaco's general $ infusion last May I think
patent counsel has the necessary war chest. Thanks to you I've got my
homework (Ritec,CMC,Mitsubishi, & Ricoh) cut out for me but preliminary shows that CMC speaks of being the
leading CD-RW manuf & they estimated global production of CD-RW media at 600 mill disks
for 2000 and were proud to announce negotiating a license with Philips on basic
CD patent technology, all while announcing ~400% quarterly year over year increases in revs and profits.
Philips got their attention, maybe Troy is next.

"If ECD filed a FTC suit this would be taken care of pronto." And it looks like ECD legals are finally in the mood. Meanwhile I am definitely ready to see ECD move beyond the patent protection/begrudging royalty collections and on to the thin-film proprietary manufacturing processes of rechargeable batteries/hydrides and rewritable DVDs at high speed/low cost... time to play roll to roll hard ball.

Regards,
Al
