*OT*You have my sympathies, SR. Imagine an elementary school where:

Kids would start the day by saying the Pledge of Allegiance, stand outside the classroom once a week for a general assembly and sing the National Anthem, where the Ten Commandments were taught as being fundamental to American Society and Western Civilization in general, where any contraband of any kind could and would be confiscated immediately (no search warrant necessary), where teachers could and would physically remove an unruly student from the classroom to the waiting arms of the principal's office or local police (without fear of ACLU lawsuits), where parents were routinely called in to discuss good and bad scholastic performance, where if you didn't pass the grade you were actually held back to repeat the year, where graffiti and obscene language were sufficient cause for dismissal and/or expulsion.........just imagine.

THAT was my Los Angeles public school system as recently as 1970 (that I know of).

The thought of public schools today scares me far more than the thought of a sub-1000 NASDAQ.

Catholic schools never looked so good as they do now against the backdrop of anarchy masquerading as "education."--MK--
