Thanks again Steve.

Scandisk is finding "clusters" that are "bad" and are moving them to "good" spots. Or so it tells me.

At the moment, it appears as though I can do most anything that I need to. Nearly all of the bad clusters seem to be in games that my daughter plays with. Only one or 2 were related to IE and only one was with a word processing software.

The system is a 3 year old QUantex 333 PII. It worked fine until it started losing time 2 days ago. I replaced the battery Saturday.

I'll go very slow from here on and see what gives.
