I think that there are two types of options, those in pre IPO companies (typically pennies per share, but not all of those get anywhere, I have reams of such in companies that never got to the IPO window <VBG>) and those granted at market at various time in ongoing listed concerns. If these are the latter you are discussing, as long as not too many of these are issued, I see no harm in these.
